Crook and District AC expects its members to act as responsible athletes by upholding the club code of conduct as set out below.
As club members we should:
- Abide by the UKA and Crook and District AC Safeguarding Policies and Safeguarding Procedures
- Respect the rights of every athlete, coach, technical official and others involved in athletics and treat everyone equitably
- Uphold the same sporting values away from sport as we would when engaged in athletics
- Participate within the rules of the sport, respect decisions of coaches and officials, and demonstrate respect towards fellow athletes
- Cooperate fully with others involved in the sport such as coaches, technical officials, team managers, etc. in our own best interests and those of other athletes
- Consistently promote positive aspects of the sport and never condone rule violations or the use of prohibited substances
- Anticipate and be responsible for our own needs, including being organised, having the appropriate kit/equipment and being on time
- Act with dignity and display courtesy and good manners towards others and in no way undermine, put down or belittle other athletes, coaches, or practitioners
- Avoid swearing and abusive language whilst in athletic venues, at club functions and events, or when as part of a team/squad
- Never engage in any inappropriate or illegal behaviour
- Challenge and report inappropriate behaviour and language by others
- Refrain from posting hateful or derogatory comments about the club or its members on social media, including within club group chats and private messages
- Not misuse or abuse sporting equipment and venues
- Use safe transport or travel arrangements
- Act ethically, professionally and with integrity, and take responsibility for our actions
- Never run a race using a number that is not your own. If found guilty, a written warning will be issued
Breaches of the Code of Conduct
I understand that action can be taken by the club in response to breaches of the code of conduct. Depending on the seriousness of the breach, this may include:
- A requirement to apologise for inappropriate behaviour
- A verbal or written warning from the club committee
- Temporary suspension from attending club training sessions
- Temporary suspension from all club events/activities, or in the case of a very serious violation, permanent suspension from the club
