What do you enjoy about Crook AC: The camaraderie! Regardless of how fast or slow people are we’re great at motivating and encouraging each other in training sessions, relays and races and getting together for a post race pint or coffee and cake after a parkrun.

What’s your favourite Race?: The Royal Signals Relays at Hetton Lyons Country Park! A great team day out. I also like trail and fell races, the Coxhoe Trail Race is a local fave of mine.

Proudest moment as a Crook AC Member: Captaining our senior mens team at the North Eastern Cross Country Championships in 2023. We finished higher than lots of the region’s bigger clubs and carried that over to the Northern Champs where we also performed well.

How/why did you end up joining the club: I’d been running on my own for 18 months after taking it up to lose weight in 2019. My pal Ian Thompson badgered me to come to the club but I put it off for ages as I mistakenly thought you had to be young, fit and fast to be in a club. I was hooked after my first track session but unfortunately a covid lockdown meant I had to wait three months until the next one!
