CROOK JUNIORS – EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS

INTRODUCTION

All of Crook’s young athletes are encouraged to take part in events. These range from under 11’s ‘Sportshall’ competitions up to N.E.Y.D.L. track and field meetings. There is plenty to choose from and they cater for all ages and abilities.

Crook Juniors regular hold handicap races as part of their Thursday evening training sessions.

COUNTY DURHAM ATHLETICS NETWORK EVENTS
Usually during the winter months C.D.A.N. put on two indoor ‘Sportshall’ athletics events. One is at Sedgefield for the Under 11’s age group and the other at Stanley for the Under 13’s and Under 15’s.The network also organises spring and summer athletics festivals.

NORTH EAST HARRIER LEAGUE www.harrierleague.com
These are cross country races that take place in the winter. There are usually 6 events in a season and there are races for all the age groups from Under 11’s up to seniors.

In 2019 Crook Juniors took part in the North East Youth Development League for the first time. We joined forces with the juniors from Derwentside A.C. to form a combined Crook/Derwentside team. There were four meetings during the season and the full range of track and field events were held at each meeting.

These are a series of free timed 2km runs held in parks on a Sunday morning starting at 9 am. There are many junior ’parkruns’ throughout the North East including Sedgefield, Durham and Darlington.
