Darlington Junior 3k and Fun Run – 6th August 2023

by Laura Newby

Jake and Jack ran their little socks off and completed the Darlington fun run in super hero style. They both completed it with big smiles on their faces and were encouraged throughout by other Juniors/Seniors showing great team spirit and support. Well done boys you both did amazing, keep up the great work!

Maisy, Alex and Charlie took part in the 3K. Alex nabbed a PB (16:19) which shows how his hard work in training has paid off. Alex joined the club just over a year ago and wasn’t into athletics at all, but now looks forward to track sessions and even gets himself out for runs with friends and family. He has come on leaps and bounds since joining Crook AC Juniors and was buzzing with his time for the race.

Maisy paced the distance lovely and made it look effortless as always. Her perfect stride helped her glide past others and get her to the finish line in super speedy time (14:43). Maisy was happy with the run and looks forward to competing in more events over the coming months.

Charlie was well up for the 3k this year after coming 3rd in the fun run last year. He was determined he wanted to compete in the 3K once he was old enough and although one of the youngest in the field he did fantastic. He took off at a nice a steady pace and stayed focused throughout. He looked cool as a cucumber as he approached the home straight and still left enough in the tank to power it with sheer determination to the finish line, giving him a time of 17:51.

Well done to all the Crook AC Juniors who took part in the Darlington fun run and Junior 3k last weekend. They all did fantastic ❤️ 💛
