Middlesbrough 10K – 3rd September 2023
by Rob Teasdale
A decent turnout of 7 Crookites lined up to do business this morning in Middlesborough.
This one was always one of the to do races on the calendar and a very popular one lap loop but since Covid it’s changed hands in organisers and also had a route change.
Although it’s now been like this for a couple years this was my first go of running the new route.
It was a pretty decent route with a few turns but completely flat and good for a PB. It was a lovely sunny morning with a little breeze and considering the early start of 9am it was warming up a lot towards the end of the race.
Given we’ve been away recently and a couple of boozy weekends I still thought I could run 35.xx and was pretty happy with a finishing time of 35.52 for 16th place. I was feeling pretty decent till the 4th mile when fatigue kicked in slightly and Lee and Josh came past me at this point. I tried to hang on but a combination of the breeze and tiring legs saw them pull away.
Wayne also had a good run and was hot on my heels in 19th place. Simon worked hard having been under the weather recently but run of the day must go to Andy who ran a new PB continuing his fine run of form.
Also improving was new recruit Tracey who ran a great improvement on last years time. Well done everyone!
Rob.
