NECAA Track & Field Championships – 13/14th May 2023
by Alex Hird Over the weekend, the 2023 North East Counties Track & Field Championships were held at Middlesbrough Sports Village. The highlight of the weekend was having team GB athlete Richard Kilty (aka the Teesside Tornado) in attendance. He broke the North East 100m record on the Saturday, and returned on Sunday to take gold again in the 200m. Looking at the start list, I was in for a tough night, my PB was one of the slowest of the 16 in my heat. Nevertheless, as soon as the gun went I hit the front(would you expect anything less?). I had a pretty decent first 400m, but the wheels started to fall off after that.
Kieran Maxwell Memorial Open – 16/04/2023
by Sam Etherington Myself, Ryan & Alex had entered the 800m in the Kieran Maxwell Memorial Open, this event was hosted by Darlington Harriers and had a great turnout. In good fashion, me and Ryan got there with very little time to get a warm up done before being called up to the start where they set off the younger age groups first and worked their way up to the u17’s/seniors race. Alex joined us not long after having managed to get
