by Rob Teasdale Dewsbury is a very popular early season 10k which fills within days of entry opening. It’s an out and back course and is predominantly a decent route, ever so slightly going uphill out but then downhill coming back so if you’ve got plenty left in the tank it’s a good race to gain a good time. Towards the end of 2018 the long-standing host club (Durham City Harriers) pulled out of organising the event at which point Birtley AC stepped in to take it over, and moved the venue to the Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy in Birtley. by Simon Pickering This was my first time doing this course, and I’d been sold it as a “bloody quick course”. As soon as I saw the first half mile, I understood why. It turned out to be a good night for Crook, with many people getting 5k PB’s. I got there early as I went straight from work and was one of the first to register. Simple enough process.
